Hi, I’m so glad you’re here! Let me tell you a little about myself and my approach to psychotherapy. Being a strong believer in the mind-body connection, my approach to counseling is holistic and humanistic. That is to say it is client-centered, non-judgmental and builds on personal strengths. I often use journal writing, body awareness and guided imagery as self-discovery and healing tools. I sometimes incorporate energy medicine healing techniques as well. In therapy, you will be encouraged to become familiar with your feelings and how they influence your thoughts and actions. My belief is that you hold the answers within yourself, and my job as a psychotherapist is to help you find those answers. All healing is self-healing from this perspective. This requires that you actively engage in the counseling process. You are the expert on you. In this way counseling is a collaborative process based on our relationship and trust.
I instill hope and intuitively know what heals. I’m lovingly with you until we get there.
Individual counseling, group counseling and workshops are offered. Often counseling needs are generally addressed in four to eight sessions. However, there are exceptions to this and determined on an as needed basis. I prefer to offer and work with a presenting problem rather than an official diagnosis. My psychotherapy practice includes adult men and women and is equally divided. Please view my Psychology Today profile for more on how I work with clients and my credentials. I hold a master’s degree in counseling (MS1994) from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and National Certified Counselor. I am also an EMDR Trained Provider, Journal to the Self® instructor and Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher. Over the past 25 years I have had the opportunity to work in various settings and with a diverse population of clients.
I consider myself a generalist. My areas of interest include depression, anxiety, relationships and trauma.
