basketball on the hardwood in a spotlight

WHAT!!! No Grey’s Anatomy due to College Basketball playoffs!! Is that just here or everywhere?  And no Fastnacht Day either. The folks here didn’t even know what I was talking about. No tradition of donuts, not even pretend Fastnachts.  I settled for Krispy Kreme AGAIN.  You’d think being halfway to New Orleans there would be some Mardi Gras type celebration. Nope.  Not even lunch time church services for Lent.  Things to get used too.

By the way, I went to get my hair cut for the first time with someone new.  I always knew my hairdresser was important to me, but I realized I have been going to the same person for 25 years. Other than marriage, I’ve never been that dedicated to any one person. YIKES. My hair is wavy, curly and frizzy in humidity. Literally my first thought when I accepted a job in the South was, I’m never going to have another good hair day again. I begin to explain my hair to my new very good looking, tall, hulking stylist who calls me Ma’m and takes my purse for me. I say I just don’t know what I’m going to do with my hair when the humidity rises around here. I have this crazy notion that curly hair makes me look older.  I’m thinking he will comfort me and come up with a workable hairstyle. INSTEAD, he tells me scientifically how absolutely right I am….curly hair does make you look older because it absorbs the light. It makes the circles under your eyes darker and your wrinkles deeper. By now my mouth is hanging open…Yeh, like I’m ever going to go curly again. His recommendation was a flat iron. I bought one the next day.

Yesterday I was walking Buster and this smart, little dark blue convertible with a bike rack pulls into the development. I say, Buster hold up, let’s see who this cute guy is driving this car. A woman in lab coat jumps out…..  Awww, come on, let’s go home.

Oh  yoohoo, is anyone out there?
