Regrets.
I just finished reading this book, The Midnight Library, and it really made me think about regrets in my life. I even used it as a journal prompt to dig a little deeper in my psyche and uncover what may lay hidden in my psyche. You might want to try that too.
While I’m not a fan of how the story starts out with Nora contemplating suicide, much like A Man Called Ove, it does give you a close-up view of what it would be like if you had chosen differently in your life or had the resolve and determination to stay a course instead of quitting.
It makes you feel what it is like to live another life in the present tense.
The book also helps us know we are maybe asking for the wrong things to feel fulfilled and happy.
Have you ever regretted the paths you could’ve have taken and didn’t? The choices you made? The things you said and did that changed your relationships.
Do you ever play the What If or If Only game and wish for a different lif
When I was getting divorced, I played that game, if only I said this and done that, I would still be in my marriage.
The truth is I can’t imagine myself in that marriage now. I’ve grown so much personally and emotionally that I could never be in that relationship as it was. I didn’t know then how much of my own happiness I sacrificed, how much I was willing to compromise.
Now I know what happiness and joy feel like.
It’s emotional freedom.
As you think about Independence Day, take a moment to be thankful for your personal freedom.
Never underestimate your value in the life you are living right now.
You are here for a reason. You chose this life for a reason.
There is nowhere you need to be but right here right now living your best life as the woman you were meant to be.
